Job Summary
Working remotely with occasional travel for client engagements, the full-time Technical Editor will edit and transform technical documents for the Federal Highway Administration, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with agency standards.
Key responsibilities
- Edit technical documents, including brochures and research reports, for accuracy and compliance
- Transform complex engineering jargon into clear, publication-ready materials while ensuring accessibility compliance
- Manage the full lifecycle of assigned documents from outline to final publication, collaborating with technical staff
Required qualifications
- 5 years of experience in technical writing or documentation, preferably in highway or surface transportation research
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related scientific/technical field
- Expert-level command of the GPO Style Manual and working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style
- Experience ensuring Section 508 accessibility compliance for technical publications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
