Technical Writing Team Lead

Job Summary

Leading a team of technical writers, the full-time remote Docs Team Lead will set the direction for developer and product documentation, manage team operations, and maintain the API reference while spending a significant portion of time on hands-on technical work.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of two technical writers, ensuring clear ownership and supporting their professional development
• Own the API reference documentation and oversee information architecture, CI/CD processes, and style guidelines
• Triage engineering and product work into documentation tickets, ensuring timely delivery of updates with each production release

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in technical writing or developer documentation with a focus on API references
• Experience leading or mentoring technical writers
• Proficiency in OpenAPI and docs-as-code workflows using Git, pull requests, and Markdown/MDX
• Ability to read API responses, write scripts (TypeScript or Python), and build documentation operations tools
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents in documentation workflows
