Telecommute Science Editor

Job Summary

A consulting and staffing agency has a current position open for a Telecommute Science Editor.

Must be able to:

• Collaborate with the science editorial lead to maintain high standards of editorial and instructional excellence
• Conduct razor-sharp editing of science feature articles and test items targeted toward grades 6-12
• Edit content for organization, consistency, accuracy of science information, and overall flow, while improving clarity and readability

Position Requirements Include:

• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Experience as an editor in K-12 educational publishing or educational technology
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a science discipline
• Familiarity with differentiated text and Lexile levels
• Knowledge of scientific concepts and the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to readers at this level
• Understanding of appropriate voice, vocabulary, and compositional structure for readers at this level
