Job Summary
To support a growing health system, the part-time Tennessee Licensed Coding Specialist will review, assign, and abstract diagnostic and procedural codes independently while also providing ongoing training and development for staff in a remote capacity.
Key responsibilities
- Organizes and prioritizes complex coding work to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assigns appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes to accurately reflect resource utilization during patient encounters
- Serves as a clinical coding subject matter expert and initiates coding queries as needed
Required qualifications
- Tennessee Licensed Coding Specialist certification
- 4 years of relevant work experience in medical coding
- High School Diploma or GED
- Advanced knowledge of medical coding and terminology
- Understanding of compliance regulations and guidelines in healthcare
