Job Summary

Working remotely as an independent contractor, the part-time Tetun Interpreter will handle on-demand phone calls, providing interpretation between Tetun and English speakers across various industries, while maintaining professionalism and cultural sensitivity.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a professional manner
• Render accurate concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocols
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during potentially stressful interpreting sessions

Required qualifications

• Fluency in Tetun and English, with a strong understanding of cultural dynamics
• Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, translation, or interpretation preferred
• Excellent listening and retention skills to ensure accuracy during interpretation
• Ability to remain neutral and objective during sensitive conversations
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
