Job Summary

To support oncology services, the part-time Texas Licensed Cancer Coder will review, interpret, and verify diagnostic and clinical codes for oncology providers, ensuring compliance with coding principles and guidelines while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Review and audit charges in inpatient and outpatient settings to ensure compliance and accurate charge capture prior to claim submission
• Provide feedback to physicians and management regarding proper documentation, coding practices, and denial management
• Stay updated on oncology coding standards and guidelines to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

Required qualifications

• CPC certification required within 6 months from date of hire
• 2+ years of billing experience in a clinic or physician office setting
• 1+ years of coding experience abstracting from clinical notes or dictations
• Diversified understanding of CPT guidelines and Medicare rules and regulations
• Solid understanding of medical terminology
