Job Summary
To support hospital operations, the full-time Texas Licensed Coder III will create disease and procedure indices by coding and abstracting data from inpatient and outpatient records while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Code and abstract pertinent data from inpatient acute, transitional care, and outpatient records
- Provide diagnostic and procedural information to the Business Office for billing purposes
- Utilize ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding knowledge to ensure accurate documentation
Required qualifications
- Minimum of two years' experience with ICD-10-CM coding in an acute hospital setting
- AHIMA credential as Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Experience with computerized abstracting systems and encoding software preferred
- Basic proficiency in computer skills, including Windows and mouse usage
