U.S. Registered Patent Agent

Job Summary

Partnering with R&D and legal stakeholders, the fully remote Senior Patent Agent will develop and execute strategies to protect Cepheid's intellectual property, focusing on patent preparation, prosecution, and advising on IP-related matters in the life sciences field.

Key responsibilities:

• Integrate with R&D teams to identify key IP opportunities and enable innovative protection strategies
• Draft and prosecute patent applications, conduct freedom-to-operate studies, and provide IP diligence for M&A activities
• Direct outside counsel on global patent filing and prosecution matters while preparing training materials for business stakeholders

Required qualifications:

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Agent
• At least 4 years of patent prosecution experience in the life sciences field, preferably in molecular biology or biochemistry
• A bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology, genetics, or a closely related life sciences discipline; advanced degree preferred
