USPTO Registered Patent Counsel

Job Summary

To support a growing practice, the full-time USPTO Registered Patent Counsel will prepare and prosecute patent applications, conduct freedom-to-operate analyses, and manage patent portfolios while collaborating with cross-functional teams in Princeton, NJ, Cambridge, MA, or San Diego, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications, including drafting, filing, and managing responses to office actions globally
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and provide strategic counsel on patentability and infringement issues
• Manage patent portfolios and develop strategies to protect innovations, including supporting business development activities

Required Qualifications:

• Registered to practice before the USPTO
• 7-10 years of patent law experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in chemistry, biochemistry, or pharmaceutical sciences; advanced degree preferred
• J.D. degree is preferred, but not required
• Experience in drafting and negotiating license and research collaboration agreements
