USPTO Registered Patent Counsel

Job Summary

To support a dynamic and growth-oriented environment, the full-time USPTO Registered Patent Counsel will prepare and prosecute patent applications, provide strategic counsel across various functional areas, and manage patent portfolios while collaborating with cross-functional teams in either Princeton, NJ, San Diego, CA, or Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications, including drafting and managing responses to office actions globally
• Provide comprehensive program counseling to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and develop advanced IP strategies
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and manage relationships with outside counsel for high-quality legal services

Required Qualifications:

• Registered to practice before the USPTO
• A J.D. degree and admission to at least one state bar are preferred
• 10 or more years of patent law experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in chemistry, biochemistry, or pharmaceutical sciences; advanced degree preferred
• Experience in conducting patent landscape analyses and developing patent strategies
