Job Summary
To support a leading academic medical center, the fully remote Virginia Certified Coding Specialist will ensure the accuracy and compliance of complex clinical documentation and coding for Multi-Surgery, leveraging advanced coding knowledge and collaborating with healthcare providers.
Key responsibilities
- Independently review, code, validate, and audit complex Neurosurgery surgical procedures and E/M services
- Analyze provider documentation to ensure complete and compliant code assignment utilizing CPT, ICD-10-CM, and payer-specific guidelines
- Identify documentation gaps and compliance risks while supporting coding quality initiatives through research and education
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 5+ years of relevant coding experience required, with Multi-Surgical experience preferred
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
