Job Summary

To support a leading academic health system, the fully remote Senior Hospital Inpatient Coder will review and code complex inpatient encounters, including trauma and critical care cases, while ensuring coding accuracy and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG, and other coding elements for complex inpatient records
• Review specialized inpatient records involving trauma, transplant, and advanced medical services
• Maintain departmental standards for coding quality, productivity, and accuracy while collaborating with various stakeholders

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 5+ years of relevant coding experience required
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and complex disease processes
• Experience coding in a major academic medical center or Level I trauma environment preferred
