Job Summary

Providing effective interpreting and transliterating services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals, the part-time Virginia Licensed ASL Interpreter will work remotely to support in-person and virtual classroom instruction, scheduled appointments, and student services events while maintaining flexible daytime and evening hours.

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver interpreting services during classroom instruction, tutoring sessions, and student services appointments
  • Develop partnerships and educate community partners about interpreter services
  • Ensure compliance with relevant interpreting standards and maintain accurate records
Required qualifications
  • Relevant work-related experience in interpreting
  • Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English grammar
  • Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III or equivalent certification
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during all academic semesters
