Job Summary
To provide effective interpreting and transliterating services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals, the part-time Virginia Licensed ASL Interpreter will work remotely, ensuring accessibility during in-person and virtual classroom instruction, tutoring sessions, and student services events while maintaining flexible daytime and evening hours.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver interpreting services during classroom instruction, tutoring, and student appointments
- Develop partnerships and educate community partners about interpreter services
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with confidentiality standards
Required qualifications:
- Relevant work-related experience in interpreting
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English grammar
- Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III or equivalent certification
- Ability to pass a background check and possess a valid driver's license
- Comprehensive knowledge of deaf culture and language
