Virginia Licensed Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support the integrity of Anatomic Pathology coding practices, the fully remote Virginia Licensed Coding Specialist will leverage expertise in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM guidelines to review complex clinical documentation, promote coding accuracy, and ensure appropriate reimbursement for services.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate Anatomical Pathology professional fee coding while collaborating with providers and operational partners
• Resolve coding edits, denials, and physician documentation inquiries related to pathology services
• Support coding quality initiatives through charge review processes and ongoing coding validation activities

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 5+ years of relevant Anatomical Pathology coding experience required
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
• Strong understanding of pathology documentation requirements and payer-specific billing guidelines
• Experience with NCCI edits and LCD/NCD policies
