Job Summary
To support the Department of Veterans Affairs, a fully remote, full-time Virginia Licensed Senior Software Engineer will design and develop APIs using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring secure and reliable integration of VA systems while participating in code reviews and on-call support.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop APIs, including specifications, endpoints, and data models
- Implement security best practices and maintain code quality through reviews and testing
- Monitor API performance and troubleshoot production issues as part of on-call operations
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java development using Spring Boot and Spring Batch
- Experience developing and deploying APIs on AWS
- Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Strong background in designing and maintaining APIs for external consumption
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
