Job Summary
To support the coding accuracy of medical records, the full-time salaried Washington Certified Coding Specialist will analyze and validate coding assignments for ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes remotely, ensuring compliance and optimal reimbursement for outpatient services.
Key responsibilities
- Validates codes entered at the point of care by reviewing electronic data and correcting discrepancies
- Reviews and resolves coding account issues, including failed validations and payor denials, in Epic
- Identifies documentation clarity needs and charge error trends, escalating issues to supervisors as necessary
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or other relevant coding certifications
- One year of coding experience or equivalent education/experience
