Key Responsibilities
- Review and assign correct ICD-10-CM codes based on patient documentation
- Write queries for clarification on code assignments impacting DRG
- Monitor incomplete medical records and meet established proficiency standards
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification
- 1 year of experience in inpatient coding within a hospital setting
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines and AMA Coding Clinics
- Continuing education in coding/HIM specialty and understanding of UHDDS/AMA and CMS guidelines
