Certified Medical Coder
Job Summary
A company is looking for a Medical Records Coder Outpatient.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately codes and sequences all diagnoses and procedures in outpatient medical records according to coding guidelines
- Utilizes Computer Assisted Coding software and abstracts required data into the system
- Issues coding queries and assists with documentation clarification and special projects as needed
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Bachelor Degree in Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required
- 2-3 years of acute care hospital outpatient coding experience required
- Knowledge of APC/EAPG required
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required
- Experience with 3M Encoder, Cerner, Meditech, or Optum System preferred
