Job Summary

A company is looking for a Medical Coder-U.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures based on physician and nursing documentation
• Abstract required data for input into the medical center's computerized database
• Convert patient encounters into appropriate classification assignments for optimal reimbursement

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Information, Medical Records, Medical Coding, or a similar program, or equivalent experience
• Current certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist-Professional (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Professional Coder-Hospital Outpatient (CPC-H)
• At least 12 months of full-time coding experience in an acute care facility
• In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and CPT-4 coding conventions
• Strong knowledge of health records and computerized billing systems
