Job Summary
A company is looking for an Inpatient Medical Records Coder.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately codes and sequences diagnoses and procedures in medical records per coding guidelines
- Utilizes Computer Assisted Coding software to abstract required data
- Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists for documentation clarification
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
- Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required
- 2 - 3 years of Acute Care Hospital Coding experience required
- MS-DRG knowledge required; APR-DRG knowledge is a plus
- 3M Encoder experience preferred; familiarity with Cerner, Meditech, or Optum System is a plus
