Job Summary
A company is looking for a Database Engineer - MySQL to lead a complex database migration project from MySQL 5.7 to MySQL 8.0.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end migration of MySQL 5.7 databases to MySQL 8.0 across production, staging, and development environments
- Assess current schema design, stored procedures, triggers, and configurations for compatibility and optimization with MySQL 8.0
- Develop and execute comprehensive migration and rollback plans, including testing, validation, and cutover strategies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with MySQL
- Proven experience leading at least one major MySQL version migration project
- Deep understanding of MySQL architecture, storage engines, indexing strategies, and performance tuning
- Solid understanding of replication, partitioning, and clustering
