Job Summary
A company is looking for a Coder II to perform thorough medical record reviews and abstract medical diagnoses and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret medical information to determine appropriate ICD/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures
- Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter coded information into the hospital information system
- Stay updated on ICD/CPT changes and implement them in daily work
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of college-level courses in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Basic computer skills
- Relevant coding certification (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, etc.)
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology and 1 year of coding experience
