Data Science Director

Job Summary

A company in the insurance industry is seeking a Data Science Director.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of researchers
• Develop and communicate departmental goals and strategy and facilitate goal planning for the team
• Develop sophisticated predictive models and exploratory data analyses that will unveil key data insights demonstrating both structured and unstructured data

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related quantitative field
• 5+ years professional experience building statistical and machine learning models (GLM, GLMNET, XGBoost, Random Forest, etc.)
• Expert level knowledge in one or more languages commonly used in data analytics (Python, R, Java, Scala, etc.)
• Expert level knowledge in SQL and relational databases
• Insurance domain knowledge in underwriting, claims, analytics or actuarial
