Job Summary
A company is looking for a Facility Coding Outpatient Apprentice.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, evaluate, and abstract data elements from patient electronic records
- Assign applicable ICD diagnoses and ICD & CPT procedure codes for inpatient and outpatient encounters
- Collaborate with the HIMS team on various assigned projects and tasks under supervision
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent specialized training in medical record keeping and coding principles
- Requires a coding credential from AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., CPC, CPC-A, CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT)
- Basic knowledge of ICD/CPT coding principles and AHIMA coding competencies
- Familiarity with pharmacologic agents
- Ability to work effectively with common office software
