Remote Observation Coder
Job Summary
A developer of speech recognition applications is in need of a Remote Observation Coder.
Individual must be able to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Review medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures relative to the patient's health care encounter
- Ensure appropriate DRG assignment
- Participates in Coding Roundtables through presentation of materials, articles and current issues
Qualifications Include:
- Minimum of 3 years of related coding experience
- Knowledge of reimbursement systems, federal, state and payor-specific regulations
- Knowledge of diagnosis, procedure, E/M, charge capture, OBS hour calculation/confirmation process, and injections/infusions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understands medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology and disease processes
- Knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding principles and guidelines
