General Surgery Complex Coder

Job Summary

A company is looking for a General Surgery Complex Coder with remote work options.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze medical records and accurately code diagnostic and procedural information according to coding guidelines
• Abstract clinical diagnoses, procedure codes, and other pertinent information from medical records
• Provide quality assurance for medical records and ensure compliance with coding rules and regulations

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and specialized formal training in medical record keeping
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), in an active status
• Three or more years of complex professional coding experience within the specialty
• Knowledge and understanding of ICD and CPT coding principles
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a remote setting
