  • Slow labor growth and low unemployment are contributing to inflationary pressures in Minneapolis and the consumer price index for 2019 rose 3.0%. This is double the increase in 2018.

Minnesota Mean Wages

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Minnesota residents enjoy a mean hourly wage of $26.87 and $55,890 annually. These wages are higher than the national averages of $24.98 per hour and $51,960 annually.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area is experiencing significant wage gains with increases in its 3 large counties ranking in the top 50 nationwide between 2017 and 1018. There was a 5.4% in Dakota County, 4.5% in Anoka County, and a 4.4% increase in Ramsey County.

Minnesota’s other high ranking county included St. Louis County with a 4.8% wage increase. St. Louis County is found on the coast of Lake Superior and includes the port city of Duluth.
