Virtual Vocations names the Top 10 Cities for Remote Work in 2021. This report outlines which U.S. cities provide the best opportunities to not only work remotely but also enjoy a flexible, well-rounded personal lifestyle.
To create our Top 10 Cities for Remote Work in 2021 list, we utilized a weighted importance scoring model format to rank locations based on nine evaluation points we determined to be factors that remote workers and remote jobseekers would find favorable to city living. These factors include elements like the prevalence of remote jobs in the area, access to high-speed internet, and the total tax burden for the state in which each city is located. that more than half of TIME’s most influential companies are remote enabled.

In April 2021, TIME magazine published its inaugural list of the most influential companies. The “TIME100 Most Influential Companies” ranking, which is an expansion of the TIME100 list franchise that includes the magazine’s buzzworthy “Most Influential People” list, honors “businesses making an extraordinary impact around the world.”
Impressed by TIME’s new business list, the Virtual Vocations team was curious about which of the top 100 companies are not only influential but also remote enabled. Career Confidence Among Remote Workers 2021 Survey
The Virtual Vocations 2021 Career Confidence Survey was developed as a component of our annual Remote Work Week campaign celebrating virtual employment and the flexibility it provides professionals who want to take more control over their lives and work. This year, in addition to developing the Career Confidence Survey, we celebrated our sixth annual Remote Work Week event with the launch of our new Remote Career Center—a remote jobseeker hub featuring more than 40 expert resources curated to help jobseekers improve their online job searches, hireability, and career success.
