In case you haven’t heard yet, Facebook is rebranding itself as Meta. So, if you are looking for remote Facebook jobs, you are now looking for remote Meta jobs. Meta Platforms, Inc. is a multinational technology conglomerate and parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, among others. It’s one of the “Big Tech” companies, along with Alphabet (Google), Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft.
The rebranding from Facebook to Meta is described by Mark Zuckerberg, Founder, Chairman, and CEO, as a move to reflect the future and a newly emerging “embodied internet.” He envisions a future where technically mediated social connections will take place in 3D simulations. Individuals participate as avatars, or 3D living representations of themselves, using glasses or a headset for immersive experiences.
Meta’s Approach to Remote Work
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Meta’s work model was similar to other high technology giants. Which is to say, almost entirely in-person. The company outfitted corporate campuses with perks such as cafes, fitness centers, hair salons, and medical clinics to keep you on-site. While corporate leadership may want to keep the in-person work model, they also read the writing on the wall. As such, they are instituting a range of flexible work options, including hybrid and fully remote models.
Today, Meta offers remote and hybrid options for a range of positions in the U.S., Canada, and eight European countries. In 2021, 1100 remote Meta and remote Facebook jobs were added to Virtual Vocations’ hand-vetted remote jobs database. Enough jobs to come in #10 on the Virtual Vocations 2022 Top 100 Companies for Remote Jobs list. As well as offering remote roles, Meta is addressing the cultural aspects of a partially distributed workforce. There are a variety of technical tools and programs available to promote relationship building, collaboration, and professional growth.

Salaries & Benefits at Meta
The salaries and benefit plans at Meta are very good. In fact, the company consistently ranks highly on Glassdoor’s annual Employee’s Choice List of the Top 100 Places to Work in the U.S. It rose to the top three times and made the list for 11 consecutive years. In 2021, they came in just outside the top 10 at number 11. Overall, the compensation and benefits package received 4.6/5 stars by Meta employees.
Big draws include top pay. Of course, salaries vary depending on the position. However, the average Meta salary ranges from a low of approximately $56,500 annually for User Operations Analysts to over $385,000 per year for a Director of Engineering.
In addition to generous pay, the company set new standards for health and wellness benefits. In addition to $0 deductible health insurance, 401K, bonuses, and stock options, Meta offers a comprehensive range of wellness benefits. Parenting benefits are especially appreciated, and Meta was the first employer to offer coverage up to $20,000 for egg-freezing. Other benefits for new parents include $4,000 in “Baby Cash” and 17 weeks of paid leave for both men and women.
Perhaps most important are the intangible benefits that employees report. For example, employees frequently cite autonomy, transparency, and a culture of collaboration as reasons for enjoying their work at Meta. By all appearances, the culture at Meta is one where the company’s stated values are more than just a motto.
