Are you ready to telecommute? Work from home for one of the 20 most recommended remote companies in the United States.
Earning a spot on Glassdoor’s annual Employees’ Choice Awards list for the “Best Places to Work” is a prestigious honor enjoyed by only 100 companies annually. Glassdoor’s 2017 “Best Places to Work” list highlights U.S. employers, including small, medium, and large companies, with the highest ratings for workplace satisfaction, as calculated from more than 2 million employee-submitted Glassdoor company reviews.
From November 2, 2015 to October 30, 2016 Glassdoor accepted company reviews from current and former employees offering opinions on the pros and cons of working for a given employer, advice for managerial improvement, and rankings of key workplace satisfaction criteria like a company’s culture and values, compensation packages, CEO performance, and work-life balance. After reviewing upwards of 2.1 million company reviews, Glassdoor compiled the 100 top employee-ranked companies into their 2017 “Best Places to Work” publication.
Virtual Vocations’ Company List Is Where Employee Satisfaction and Telecommuting Meet
Upon reviewing Glassdoor’s 2017 list of the “Best Places to Work,” we were pleased to discover not only that such a wide variety of telecommute companies made Glassdoor’s Employees’ Choice Award winners, but also that they were so highly recommended by current and former employees. At Virtual Vocations, we’re eager to connect telecommute job seekers with top telecommute-friendly employers known for hiring geographically dispersed job candidates to telecommute on a full-time or part-time basis, because we understand what motivates job seekers to pursue telecommuting jobs.
During our National Work & Family Month Celebration in October 2016, we polled registered Virtual Vocations members about the role telecommuting plays in their quest to achieve greater work-life balance. From the more than 1,000 survey responses we received from Virtual Vocations members, who represent both current telecommuters and those actively seeking remote work opportunities at the time of the survey, we discovered that telecommuting jobs are so desired by the modern labor force that more than 80% of our survey respondents reported they would be willing to accept lower wages in exchange for the opportunity to work remotely at least some of the time.
Thankfully, as more companies embrace flexible work arrangements, telecommuters don’t have to choose between top wages and working from home. Telecommuting has become such a part of the 21st century labor market that, according to GlobalWorkplaceAnalytics.com, instances of remote work among the non self-employed have increased by 103% since 2005. The boom in telecommuting would not be possible without industry leading employers, like those featured on Glassdoor’s 2017 “Best Places to Work List”—employers who recognize the mutually shared benefits of the telecommuting lifestyle through increased job productivity and employee satisfaction.
Inspired by Glassdoor’s desire to inform job seekers of companies renowned for their employee satisfaction, we compared Glassdoor’s 2017 “Best Places to Work” employers against entries in our Telecommute Companies Database—a storehouse of thousands of telecommute-friendly company profiles—to determine which of Glassdoor’s top companies for 2017 are also telecommute-friendly and form our own list of the most recommended remote companies.
