What are the top employee benefits remote-friendly companies have to offer jobseekers who want to work from home? Our members asked, and Virtual Vocations answered! Read on for our report detailing remote employers providing top employee benefits, like medical insurance, health and wellness perks, and work location flexibility, including 10 companies paying out average salaries above $100,000 per year.
Top Employee Benefits Remote Workers Want
Employee benefits are forms of compensation or perks awarded to employees separate from their base wages. Benefits may be tangible, like merchandise, gift cards, or bonuses. Benefits also may be intangible, like flexible work arrangements, advancement opportunities, and employee recognition. Ahead of the new year, our members asked us to determine which remote-friendly companies provide top employee benefits.
First, we looked to Virtual Vocations “Job Satisfaction Survey” data on the most desired employer provided benefits. Remote work options, four-day work weeks, and technology and/or home office stipends were favorites among all workers.
Access to remote work was so highly valued that 40.19% of professionals working onsite said they would consider leaving their current employer for a job with remote options. And for those out of work, 80% stated remote job access is critical to them considering future offers.
Next, we examined additional Virtual Vocations survey data on types of perks or non-work-related benefits jobseekers would enjoy. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of respondents said they believe overall wellness, including mental and physical health, is critical to success at work. Popular perks jobseekers would like to see become top employee benefits include exercise classes or virtual fitness programs, meal and food delivery subscriptions, online community support, lunch and learn webinars, and virtual coffee breaks with coworkers.
Finally, we analyzed internal Virtual Vocations research on remote-friendly companies. Bearing in mind remote jobseeker and remote worker opinions about benefits, our goal was to determine which businesses and organizations offer top employee benefits, based on the following criteria:
- Medical Insurance
- Other Insurance (e.g. life insurance, disability insurance)
- Retirement & Pay
- Health & Wellness
- Work Location & Hours
- Parental Benefits
- Other Benefits (e.g. education reimbursement, employee discounts)
CEO’s Statement on Top Employee Benefits
“When a jobseeker begins their remote job search, we want them to be equipped with as much information as possible about what employers have to offer them. We know jobseekers are already preparing for their interviews by practicing answers to questions and crafting statements about what they can bring to the table, so it is important to our team that jobseekers are applying to work for the right companies—businesses with missions that match jobseeker values and employers who are prepared to recognize and reward worker experience, education, and effort.
With this report, we hope to inspire not only jobseekers with options for remote-friendly companies that will provide them with top employee benefits but also employers themselves to offer more benefits and perks that workers want.”

Every employee deserves to work for an employer that values their contributions, facilitates positive company culture, and respects their desire for flexibility in life and work.
To connect remote jobseekers with even more remote-friendly companies with good employee benefits offerings, we measured our list of “43 Remote Enabled Best Places to Work for 2022” against our internal research data. 5 Remote Enabled Company Culture Leaders
Company culture relates to the behaviors and attitudes within a workplace; it is the shared ethos of an organization. The way employees feel about their work, how things get done, and the values upheld by employees and employers are all part of company culture. Workers are most likely to be satisfied with their jobs when their values align with their employer’s values. And if a company’s culture is a good fit, workers are more likely to develop better relationships and be more productive. An environment of positive company culture also reduces loneliness and isolation among distributed team members and sets the tone for telework collaboration and work ethic.
We compared our 2022 ranking of “50 Remote Enabled Company Culture Leaders” against our internal research data to find the five best businesses for company culture and benefits. Below, we listed the top employee benefits these five remote-friendly companies offer. Select any company name to view the Virtual Vocations Company Profile of that business.
