Companies to Watch for Fully Remote Jobs in 2023 Report Overview
Through its team of of job quality specialists, researchers, and Employer Partners, Virtual Vocations added approximately 250,000 remote job postings to the jobs database in 2022. The “Top 100 Companies to Watch for Fully Remote Jobs in 2023” report recognizes employers who value flexibility and hired for the most remote jobs over the last 12 months.
To generate our list of the “Top 100 Companies to Watch for Fully Remote Jobs in 2023,” we analyzed our annual remote jobs database statistics from January 1–December 31, 2022. This process determined from which companies Virtual Vocations sourced the most remote job openings. The top 100 companies for hiring in 2022 are profiled in this report. Our examination of annual company statistics on remote-enabled employers who hired throughout the year included key data and trends like the following:
- More than 67,000 remote job postings from the “Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs in 2023” were shared to the Virtual Vocations database throughout the year.
- 20 remote-friendly career industries are represented among the top 100 companies.
- The best industries for remote jobs represented by the top 100 companies are information technology, healthcare and pharmaceutical, and insurance.
- 27.04% of all remote job openings posted to the Virtual Vocations job board in 2022 were sourced from the top 100 companies.
- 95 of the top 100 companies are based in the U.S. California, New York, and North Carolina rank as the states with the most top 100 companies headquarters locations.
- International HQs for the top 100 companies are found in Canada, Ireland, Sweden, India, and Australia
CEO’s Statement on Companies to Watch for Fully Remote Jobs in 2023
“In early 2022, Virtual Vocations became a fully remote job board. We listened to jobseeker feedback, as well as member survey data, about the types of job openings to which workers most often want to apply. The answer was clear: fully remote job openings with no business travel. Overwhelmingly, workers in 2022 preferred to not leave home for work. They wanted to save time and money by not commuting, be more productive while working from home, and enjoy the health and wellness benefits of remote employment.
With the changes made earlier this year to posting only 100% remote jobs, we saw a decrease in the overall number of jobs in our database, but the quality of job openings we screen and post increased substantially throughout 2022. 3 Best Industries for Fully Remote Jobs in 2023
Information technology, healthcare and pharmaceutical, and insurance are the top three industries represented by the 100 best companies for fully remote jobs. More than half of the top 100 companies (55%) operate within these industries. For our industry analysis within the 100 best companies ranking, we included data from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The findings overview occupational performance outlooks for the top three remote work categories.
Information Technology Companies with Fully Remote Jobs
Employment in computer and information technology occupations should increase 15% from 2021 to 2031. This level of job growth is much faster than the average for all occupations, according to the BLS. IT professionals can anticipate 682,800 new tech jobs over the decade. Another 418,500 jobs per year will arise from the need to replace workers who leave their jobs. Computer and information technology workers can also expect better than average earnings. As of May 2021, the median average wage for IT professionals was $97,430. This is more than double the median annual wage for all occupations at $45,760.

Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Companies with Fully Remote Jobs
Like IT professions, healthcare occupations will also experience much faster than average job growth. BLS data predicts 13% growth in healthcare related jobs from 2021 to 2031. The double-digit growth percentage will equal about 2 million new healthcare jobs during the decade. On average, approximately 1.9 million additional openings per year will come from growth and replacement needs due to workers permanently leaving their healthcare occupations. The BLS projects an average of 3.5% growth in pharmacist and pharmacy technician roles through 2031. Combined, 57,1000 new jobs per year, on average, are expected for these pharmaceutical occupations.

Each year, from 2021 to 2031, approximately 61,100 new insurance jobs will emerge from these fields. The strongest job growth predictions come from independent insurance sales agents, since it is expected that insurance companies will continue to rely more on brokerages. Technological advances and automation in the insurance industry have already changed its landscape, according to the BLS. Internet access allows customers to research and purchase insurance coverage online. Also, automated underwriting software increases application processing speed while reducing the need for underwriters.
