Groomers Friend, a valued new member of the Virtual Vocations Employer Partner program, is revolutionizing the pet care and groomer support industry with top-notch products like shampoos, clippers, and services including scissor sharpening. By prioritizing remote work in the roles that are suited for it, this company is establishing itself as an appealing prospect for jobseekers. Groomers Friend encourages a customer-focused work culture and provides its employees with flexibility and a harmonious work-life balance.
We connected with Nathan Cowan, the owner of Groomers Friend, to discuss his company, their history of remote work, and their criteria for hiring the best talent. Discover what you can anticipate when applying with Groomers Friend and how to make a strong impression as a remote candidate.
Has Groomers Friend always been remote?
We’ve been partially remote since our inception but due to the nature of our business, we also have on-site workers such as drivers and warehouse personnel. Our customer service team is fully remote and our leadership is hybrid.
What are you looking for in candidates in terms of culture fit with your organization?
Someone who speaks fluent English and is also bilingual in Spanish would be a huge plus. Someone who really enjoys taking care of customers. A passion for dogs is also helpful since we work with groomers and vets, but this is not a must.
How important is a resume when making hiring decisions?
A resume is more important than a LinkedIn profile, but neither of these are as important as someone who is highly organized and has outstanding phone skills.
Are you fairly structured in terms of work hours or are they flexible?
Since this is a customer service position, the hours are fairly set, but we do have a little flexibility in the schedule if needed. The candidate must be U.S.-based and available during normal business hours in the Pacific Time Zone, but can be located in any time zone.
