What Is World Tourism Day?

World Tourism Day is a an annual celebration created by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). It was designated to honor the establishment of the organization’s 1970 statutes and promote global tourism.

Every year since 1980, World Tourism Day has been recognized on September 27. With each new celebration, the UNWTO highlights a fresh tourism mission. During its inaugural year, the UNWTO honored “tourism’s contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage and to peace and mutual understanding.” More than 40 years later, the theme for 2022 is “World Tourism Day returns to focus on the future.” The UNWTO’s current aim is to put people and the plant first by encouraging a sustainable and inclusive vision for rethinking tourism.

Virtual Vocations’ survey data punctuates the growing interest in leading a flexible lifestyle that could facilitate opportunities to work and see the world. In our 100% Remote Jobs Survey, we found that 76% of workers do not want to travel for work or spend any time working onsite for their employers. Interest in a digital nomad lifestyle, which involves traveling and working remotely continuously, is highest among the Millennial and Baby Boomer generations. And with more companies than ever incorporating remote work policies into their business practices and company culture, workers can maximize their potential to travel and work how, when, and where they want.

Do Companies in the Virtual Vocations Database Hire Outside the U.S.?

We are often asked about the relationship between the more than 14,000 employers featured in our Remote Companies Database and who they hire for their fully remote job postings. More specifically, jobseekers want to know: “Are the jobs posted to the Virtual Vocations database only for U.S. residents?” The answer is no.

It is important to note that Virtual Vocations cannot speak on behalf of the employers featured in our database. Each company is responsible for its own remote hiring policies. However, we can attest to the vetting processes we undertake to screen companies added to the company profiles hub. Our team researches and reviews all employers to ensure they measure up to our high quality standards. We only share job postings from remote-enabled businesses that offer real pay for real work.

That said, it is also true that most of the job postings in our database cater to a U.S. audience. Virtual Vocations is a U.S. company and the majority of our site members are U.S. residents. But this does not mean non-U.S. residents are out of luck when it comes to searching for remote jobs using Virtual Vocations’ database and career services. In fact, our team of researchers and job quality specialists regularly encounter remote job postings with no location requirements for applicants. Within our job board, these job postings are typically categorized as “100% Remote” and/or from a “100% Virtual Company.” As our team reviews remote job postings, we search for location specific hiring details and include those in job descriptions when that information is available.

What Are the Best International Companies Hiring U.S. Remote Workers?

The remote-enabled companies on this list were not ranked in numerical order. Instead, we grouped the international businesses by continent and presented them alphabetically. Our ranking includes an array of remote-friendly businesses across thriving telework career fields. Companies range in size from small businesses with under 10 employees to large corporations employing more than 10,000 workers.
